AMD Phenom

It took five years for AMD to shift from Micro Architecture of K8 using AMD Processor Athlon 64/Athlon 64 X2 to Micro Architecture K10. This newest Micro Architecture is using 4 cores AMD Processor either Opteron for server or Phenom for desktop. It is a very long time for Information Technology which runs in a very fast growth in producing one new product.
Some people are hoping that Phenom can compete with Inter Core 2 Quad's position so we can have a tight competition in the next of 3-4 years coming. This tight competition not just creating the processor development be interesting, also gives benefits to consumer who will get the best and better processor with affordable price.
Main differences in this new AMD Processor are that in the previous series, beside the architecture design and the making process, the amount of its transistor is much more. Also they put L3 cache that is useful for buffering and restoring temporary media for the whole core processor.
Phenom is the first desktop processor which created upon Micro Architecture of K10. It is different with the previous generation of K8. This K10 processor generation is using stars core for their names. Agena, Kuma, or Sparta is the examples of its names. Those names are also being the significant factor of the processor's type itself. Phenon quad core, Phenom triples core, Athlon dual core, Athlon single core, and Sempron Single Core.
