By default, Windows XP can open .ZIP file type without using any other 3rd party software. But sometimes, if we uninstall a 3rd party file compression software doesn’t restore Windows XP feature to open .ZIP file type.
To restore this feature again, just type this command from the Start -> Run menu.
REGSVR32 ZIPFLDR.DLL
Or, you also try this command:
cmd /c assoc .zip=CompressedFolder
