Make Joomla Static Page as Default Front Page

Tags:

Joomla's front page will automatically list all new content items that have been set to the frontpage. You can also make a static page as your site front page. When you set a static page to the front page and no Joomla content item set to the front page, Joomla will give you a message like "There are no items to display". Can we avoid this error message if we want to use Joomla static content page in the front page? Yes, we can.

First go to your Joomla backend, and create a new static page from Content -> Static Content Manager menu. Click "New" to create a new static content. Click on the "Parameters" tab and change all necessary option in it if you want to change the way the static content look like. If you're done click on the "Save" button.

Now we go on to the Menu-mainmenu, unpublish your "Home" menu. Create a new menu by clicking the "New" button. Choose Link - Static Content as you link type and then click "Next" to go to the "Add Menu Item :: Link - Static Content" page.

On the "Name" column just type "Home" (without quotes) and choose your the static content you've just created a minute ago from the "Static Content" list, don't change anything in the "On Click, open" list. On the "Parent Item" choose Top, on the "Access Level" choose Public so anyone can see the static page, and finally on the "Published" option set it to "Yes". Just leave alone the Parameters section on the right side.

If you're done, click the "Apply" button. After the menu is saved, change the Ordering option of the menu. Change the Ordering option to "0 first" to make the menu on top of all other menu. And you're done, check your site, and see if it works.

Note: I've never try this trick on Mambo, but i think it could work just fine on Joomla or Mambo.
