A recent news just reported that Sony and Nichia have developed a smaller and cheaper Blu-ray player. They also expecting the new laser unit to be equipped inside Sony’s notebook later on this year.

Can PS3 wanna-be users expect the same thing? According to FileFront, since the new Blue-ray unit able to handle disks with organic dye in the recording lates which in turn can be churned out from existing DVD production lines, and this will save a lot of money for the company, which we all hope will also reduce the retail price of the products as well. Sony is cutting down PS3 production price! Report said Sony decide to cut PS3 production price since last year due to removal of some components and replace it with a smaller chip size.

Will Sony decide to cut PS3 price for consumers this year? We’ll just have to wait and see.
